BLACK SEA COAST


A region in the south of Ukraine that stretches along the northern coast of the Black Sea. It is a land of steppes and forests, rocks and estuaries, floodplains and sand spit in the interfluve of the Danube and Dniester. Boats and kayaks are made here, yacht clubs work, rafting competitions are held. The remains of a large Greek colony, Olbia, have been preserved near the village of Parutyne. Famous among tourists are the natural complex of Aktovo canyon, the park "Bug Guard", Tiligul estuary and its ornithological reserves.

The Church of St. Joseph



Nikolaev was founded in 1789 on the initiative of Prince Grigory Potemkin. Three years after the foundation of the city, a Catholic community begins to function here. She became the first Christian society to appear in the city. The bishops carried out active cultural, spiritual and educational work among the townspeople. In 1794, one of the buildings in Nikolaev was transferred to the Catholics for the construction of a church. The house was rebuilt and the Church of St. Joseph was opened. The temple was consecrated on May 20, 1796. Today, the old church is located in the courtyard of a modern church.

Mykolayiv Regional Art Museum named after V.V. Vereshchagin



The museum, which since 1986 is located in the old building of the beginning. XIX century., Was founded in June 1914 and was then in the building of the former guardhouse. The museum was created as a monument to the famous Russian battle artist VV Vereshchagin. Today the museum's collection includes about 10 thousand exhibits, which are a kind of artistic chronicle of the region, Ukraine and many other countries. The museum is a participant in many domestic and foreign programs, actively implements its own program "Return of masterpieces", so that museum collections are replenished and revived.
