Hutsuls

In the picturesque Ukrainian Carpathians, immersed in the greenery of mountain forests and blue lakes, live an original and unique people, for decades has been of interest to culturologists and historians. These are Hutsuls. Bright clothes and noticeable embroidery, harmonious dances and boundless love for music, which they create with their own hands, cutting pipes from tree branches. Representatives of the Hutsul people cannot be called Ukrainians or Slavs with certainty, although there are certain features and similarities. The most incredible things are told about them, and they themselves invent their own forest legends, which are as mysterious as this people themselves.

The legendary musical instrument of the Hutsuls is the trembita - a huge wooden trumpet wrapped in birch bark. Trembitas can often be from 3 to 4 meters long, and its sound should not be confused with any instrument. In ancient times, it served as a kind of furnace, which informed the whole district that an important event had happened - both about the wedding or the birth of a child, and about the funeral. Among the Hutsuls there are many wonderful wood carvers (often they do this from early childhood), potters, weavers. Tourists who come to these lands, meet a lot of unique souvenirs made of leather and metal, made by indigenous people.

Banosh

Banosh is prepared only by Hutsuls, and only men, apparently, this emphasizes that Hutsuls are real "gentlemen", because only on holidays they please their wives and mistresses by preparing a token on sour cream, which is gently called banosh! To cook a real Hutsul banosh, you need to be born into a real Hutsul family, know about dairy products, dried mushrooms and lard, and love a nice real Hutsul girl, because this dish can be prepared only by a real Hutsul in love with love. Anyone who cooks Hutsul banosh should have a nice wooden spoon, a good mood and a nice bottle of yafinka to cheer up those who will disturb him!
